The opening week of the Tokyo Olympics has been exhilarating for one Peer Group Director in particular. Our Property Director is Jonathan Dean and his son, Tom Dean has lifted the nation by bringing home not only one, but two Gold Medals in his first ever Olympic games. These results have caused huge excitement in the office here at Peer Group.
Tom firstly set a new British record on his way to claiming the individual Men’s 200m freestyle Gold medal with teammate and close friend Duncan Scott winning the silver. It is the first time since 1908 that two male British swimmers have finished on the Olympic podium together.
Tom wasn’t done yet however, with the Men’s 4x200m freestyle relay the following day. This time round, Tom was able to share another Gold medal with Duncan and fellow teammates James Guy and Matt Richards. This victory means Tom is the first British male swimmer to win two Gold medals at the same Olympic Games since 1908.
With the support of Jonathan and his family, Tom first developed at Maidenhead Marlins Swimming Club before joining the University of Bath on a sporting scholarship.
From everyone at the Peer Group, a massive congratulations to Tom and we wish him all the best for his future swimming career. His father, Jonathan is hoping to get some tips to follow suit at the JLL Property Triathlon in August.
