Hop Exchange News – July 2026

Welcome to our inaugural Hop Exchange News! We will be sending out monthly updates taking you behind the scenes of our refurbishment project here at The Hop Exchange. You are invited to follow along to see all the exciting new developments as they progress.

We have recently unveiled the front of the West Wing and it is looking fully refreshed with newly restored windows and the original colour scheme. This is an exciting glimpse into how the whole building will look when it is finished. The elevation works to The Hop Exchange have been progressing well. In late 2025 works to the West Wing were completed and the scaffolding removed. In February this year, the East Wing was also completed, including the tympanum above the Portico entrance. Works are currently focusing on the middle section of the building with an expected completion date of June 2026.

Scaffolding has been erected within the Atrium of The Hop Exchange in advance of refurbishment works commencing. This will include; the replacement of the roof, the redecoration of all the office suites, common areas and toilets, replacement of the Atrium lift, and the installation of mechanical ventilation across the whole building. We anticipate that these works will be completed and The Hop Exchange fully reopened for November 2026. We are undertaking these works to bring the building into the 21st Century providing modernised and reinvigorated office space while maintaining the beauty and heritage of The Hop Exchange. The image shown on the right is a CGI render of how the Atrium will look once the works have been completed. Allowing for an abundance of natural daylight.

Dishoom comes to Borough! We are excited to announce that Dishoom will be opening a new restaurant at The Hop Exchange. They are renowned for their lively atmosphere and Bombay-style cuisine. This is going to be the largest Dishoom in the UK and will span over two floors of the West Wing. It is anticipated to be a huge addition to the Bankside area being located next to Borough Market. This highly regarded restaurant is going to add greatly to the offering for our tenants at The Hop Exchange. Fit out works have started and are expected to last for seven months, with an opening date in October 2026.

In summary, 2026 marks an exciting and transformative year for The Hop Exchange. With the external restoration nearing completion, major internal refurbishment works underway, and the arrival of Dishoom set to bring a vibrant new hospitality offering to the building. The entire building is being sympathetically revitalised for its next chapter. We look forward to reopening this Autumn, unveiling modernised, high-quality workspace whilst celebrating the building’s heritage in the heart of Bankside.
